Artsy Fart Detroit Coney Sandwich

My love affair with sandwiches began in my childhood, but it wasn’t consummated until 2012 in Washington DC. I’d had a few serious and good sandwiches from sandwich shops that were not Subway or Potbelly. I started thinking about what made sandwiches generally so great, and the specific attributes that made an individual sandwich a great sandwich. I was looking for a project, and in the summer of that year, this blog was born.

Eat a Sandwich has been mostly dormant since the middle of 2015, and since that time I’ve moved with my family from DC to Detroit. I had spent as much time in Motown as in any city other than DC after meeting my wife (a native) in 2010, and I had even written an outsider’s bit about the city’s sandwich scene.

I’ve lived in Michigan for just over a year now, and I know today barely more about the local sandwich landscape than I did as a visitor. Nonetheless, I’m intending to resume publishing in this space on more or less the established subject matter. The frequency will be irregular, the topics less focused, but I’m excited to be getting back to work.

Tips and guest columns are encouraged. Find me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook or email me at jack@eatasandwich.com. As always, enjoy every sandwich.
