Steak and Egg Sub
Quiznos
Baltimore Washington International Airport
$3.99

Delays, security lines, crying babies and off-site parking lots can make it tempting to take for granted the relative ease and convenience of air travel. Complaining of such minor inconveniences seems shamefully petty when you consider that not so long ago travel through many regions of these United States was limited to certain seasons and whether you could find a big enough hole in the mountains for a horse to fit through. One thing I refuse to accept, however, is the generally horrendous food served at airports and on airplanes alike. We have mastered the art of flying an oversized aluminum can through the air at ungodly speeds, but serving a palatable meal at any point in the process is beyond our abilities? In fact, I’m fairly certain the objectively terrible steak and egg sub from Quiznos, the thirteenth entry in our month-long September Sunrise Sandwich Spree, is available only at airport locations. I suppose a below average breakfast is a small price to pay for the magic of flight, but don’t you think we can do better than this? There’s chipotle mayo on it, too, by the way.
